Peter Jackson Interested In Directing Doctor Who

New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson (writer/director of such films as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Frighteners & King Kong) voiced an interest in working on Doctor Who to the Waikato Times newspaper.

When asked he would consider working on Doctor Who, as suggested by the show's star Matt Smith, Jackson said "I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt's fantastic. Just name a time and a place, and I'll be there!"

Of course, Jackson won't be free to do so until he's finished working on The Hobbit films, which will probably be 2014 if his experience working on the Lord of the Rings trilogy is anything to go by. If there is to be a Peter Jackson episode, don't expect it to be any time soon.

But on the other hand, how freaking cool would it be if he actually did direct an episode?
