As the current Doctor, Matt Smith, works on filming episodes for broadcast in 2013, one of his predecessors may be about to embark on a dangerous assignment of his own.
Colin Baker, who played the sixth incarnation of the Time Lord (1984-6), is being reported as one of the contenders in the forthcoming new series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! on ITV.
The show is hosted by Ant and Dec and made in Australia. It features a diverse array of well-known personalities including politicians, actors and sportspeople attempting to 'survive' in an Australian jungle while tackling such unusual fare as raw sharks' brains and kangaroo testicles.
Colin Baker has previously been a winner on a charity edition of cooking competition Come Dine with Me. Since leaving Doctor Who in 1986, he has reprised the role of the Doctor on many occasions for Big Finish and has been a regular guest at conventions and a notable ambassador for the programme. He is the first actor who has played the Doctor to feature on I'm a Celebrity...
Good luck to Colin in the Outback!
(NB Colin Baker's own website states that until ITV officially unveils the guest lineup, no celebrities who might be involved can comment.)
