Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary Special and Sherlock Series 3 To Begin Filming On The Same Day

It's a Steven Moffat fan's dream. It has been announced that both of Steven Moffat's upcoming projects, Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary Special and series three of mega-hit Sherlock will both begin filming on Monday 18 March.

Sherlock was co-created by Moffat and frequent Who contributor (with his latest episode, featuring the return of the Ice Warriors, due to air third in the upcoming series) and features a modern update of the Sherlock Holmes stories.

The filming of Sherlock series three will be filmed in two blocks, with two episodes shooting from 18 March, and a third to be filmed after an early summer break.

Sherlock series three will air in winter, and the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special will air in November.
