Doctor Who: Steven Moffat Talks The Regeneration Limit

SPOILERS: This article contains spoilers for The Day of the Doctor. If you've not seen it yet, watch it on iPlayer or iTunes and come back.

After The Day of the Doctor validated John Hurt's War Doctor as the ninth incarnation, Steven Moffat has spoken out about the Doctor's twelve-regeneration limit, which would make Peter Capaldi's Doctor the final incarnation.

Moffat said:
"Paul McGann turns into John Hurt so they're not the same incarnation. He used up another regeneration and I expect he'll be in trouble shortly - you can't break rules laid down in the Deadly Assassin."
Moffat also re-iterated that John Hurt's War Doctor does not count towards the numbering, still keeping the current numbering intact.

With the Doctor seemingly on his penultimate incarnation now and a regeneration coming up next time, how do you want the regeneration limit to be dealt with? Comment below!
