Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi On The Doctor's Age & His Debut At Christmas

At a Press Association event, the next Doctor - Peter Capaldi - spoke out about his thoughts about the Doctor's age, his favourite Doctor and his debut at the conclusion of The Time of the Doctor this Christmas.

Capaldi, a lifelong fan, said:
“I’m 1,995 years too young for the part, really. So I think the Doctor's going to be quite happy to look his age at last!”
He also praised each of the twelve Doctors that came before him, claiming that he didn't have a favourite Doctor and he was proud to have all of them in his new role's DNA.

On his first scene as the Doctor after Matt Smith's regeneration in The Time of the Doctor, Capaldi stated:
“I haven’t seen it, so I’m looking forward to my reaction. My family are all coming over to watch Matt Smith turning into me which will be interesting.”
The Time of the Doctor will air on Christmas Day at 7.30pm on BBC One. Peter Capaldi will begin filming his first series as the Doctor next month, for transmission in autumn 2014.
