Doctor Who: Writers for Series 8 Episodes 4 & 5 Announced

The first two writers for Doctor Who series eight were confirmed last month as Steven Moffat and Phil Ford - and now we know who's penning two more episodes.

The latest issue of DWM confirms that Steven Moffat will be penning Episode 4, the episodes which introduces new recurring character Danny Pink - and writer of The Curse of the Black Spot and Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS Steve Thompson will be returning to write Episode 5.

Both episodes, currently being filmed as part of Block Two, will be directed by Douglas Mackinnon. Here's what the series looks like right now:

  1. Episode One - written by Steven Moffat (filming completed) - directed by Ben Wheatley
  2. Episode Two - written by Phil Ford (filming completed) - directed by Ben Wheatley
  3. Episode Three - writer TBC (to be filmed as part of Block Three) - directed by Paul Murphy
  4. Episode Four - written by Steven Moffat (filming in progress) - directed by Douglas Mackinnon
  5. Episode Five - written by Steve Thompson (filming in progress) - directed by Douglas Mackinnon
  6. Episode Six - writer TBC (to be filmed as part of Block Three) - directed by Paul Murphy
  7. Episodes Seven-Twelve
Paul Wilmshurst will helm at least one episode, with Gareth Roberts and Mark Gatiss also confirmed for episodes.
