Coleman, who plays companion Clara Oswald, told Entertainment Weekly that the Twelfth Doctor is 'a total adrenaline junkie' as well as 'a lot fiercer' than his predecessor, who was played by Matt Smith.
A first glimpse of Capaldi's first full-length episode as the Doctor - Series 8 opener Deep Breath - was unveiled earlier today (read more here). The feature-length episode will see a post-regeneration Twelfth Doctor and Clara in Victorian England, where they will be joined by recurring characters Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey).
Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, who wrote the series opener, teased fans as to what they can expect from the episode:
"It’s a big introduction, he’s the new Doctor. There’s no point pretending that it’s not the most interesting, dynamic thing that you’ve got to sell in that first episode. It’s going to be about ‘What’s he like? How’s he different?’ I suppose it feels a bit like a character piece, but there’s plenty of action and nonsense and jeopardy, as there ever is in Doctor Who."Deep Breath will hit our screens on Saturday 23rd August.
