Doctor Who: Sanjeev Bhaskar Joins Series 8

Comedian and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar has been announced as the latest addition to the cast of Doctor Who, which returns to our screens in August.

Bhaskar will be appearing in the Series 8 finale alongside stars Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, as well as previously announced guest star Michelle Gomez. No details about his character have yet been confirmed.

Bhaskar said of his casting:
“I’m thrilled to have made a small contribution to and now be part of the Doctor Who universe. Another dream box ticked!”
Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, who penned the series finale, said:
“I’m completely thrilled that Sanjeev Bhaskar is coming to the aid of the Doctor. The danger is never deadlier than in a finale episode, and the Time Lord is going to need all the help he can get!”
Sanjeev Bhaskar is no stranger to the world of Doctor Who, having lent his vocal talents to Eighth Doctor Big Finish productions The Eight Truths and Worldwide Web. He is also married to the actress and writer Meera Syal, who appeared in the Series 5 Silurian two-parter The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood as Dr Nasreen Chaudhry.

Bhaskar's other work includes popular comedy series Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No. 42 as well as recent BBC daytime series The Indian Doctor.
