Happy Birthday Doctor Number Three

Jon Pertwee, born John Devon Roland Pertwee was best known for playing the Third Doctor. From 1970 to 1974 he fought monsters such as the Drashig, Omega and his personal favourite the Draconians alongside his companions Liz Shaw (played by Caroline John), Jo Grant (played by Katy Manning) and the longest running companion to this day, Sarah Jane Smith (played by the late Elisabeth Sladen).

Today, July 7th, we honour what would have been Jon's 95th birthday. He died of a heart attack 18 years ago on May 20th, though he is survived by his wife and children. Ingeborg Rhoesa is the mother of two very accomplished performers, Sean Pertwee and Dariel Pertwee.

"A tear, Sarah Jane? No, No don't cry. While there's life there's..." These were the last words Jon Pertwee spoke as the Doctor.
