Remembering Verity Lambert

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society (DWAS) has announced a special event to be held to honour Verity Lambert, one of Doctor Who's founders.

Remembering Verity Lambert will take place at Riverside Studios in London, where a Blue Heritage plaque will be unveiled to commemorate Lambert, who is being recognised as one of the most significant and influential figures in British television history. The plaque will be on display until the studios close for development in the autumn, at which point the plaque will be placed into storage ready to be mounted when the new Riverside Media Centre is complete.

To celebrate the unveiling, DWAS will be showing the BAFTA award winning docu-drama An Adventure in Space and Time - thanks to a special arrangement with BBC Worldwide - in high definition on 23rd July at 7pm. The showing will be followed by an interview with Waris Hussein, Lambert's friend and colleague and the director of the first Doctor Who story.

DWAS will also be hosting an auction on their eBay site to raise funds for the plaque, giving Whovians the chance to bid on some collectible items donated by family and friends.

Tickets for the screening are free and available by post, with details on how to apply on the DWAS website. Tickets are to be distributed on a first-come first-served basis, with priority given to DWAS members.
