Doctor Who Showrunner Steven Moffat Wins Emmy!

What a week it's been for Doctor Who! A new series got off to a great start with Deep Breath on Saturday, the viewing figures on both sides of the pond making it the most-watched Doctor Who series premiere since "The Eleventh Hour."

And on Monday night, it was more good news for showrunner Steven Moffat: he was awarded an Emmy for Best Writing for a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special for Sherlock: His Last Vow, which aired on BBC One in January, and PBS in May.

Moffat quipped:
"Thanks to PBS Masterpiece for suggesting that I prepare something in advance in the event I won, and apologies to the same for not doing that."

Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman also won Emmys, for Best Lead Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie and Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie, both for "His Last Vow," but were not on hand to accept them.
