Doctor Who: Alex Kingston On Potential For River Song To Return

Many fans have wondered whether River Song could (or should) make another appearance on Doctor Who. Her timeline and history with the Doctor has been complicated since her first appearance in 2008's "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead" opposite David Tennant's Tenth Doctor. Since then, she has constantly met the Doctor out of order, frequently knowing more than him because of the adventures she's already had. In 2013's "The Name of the Doctor," it appeared that we may have seen the last of River Song, as she appeared as a hologram from the Library and finally had the opportunity to say goodbye to the Doctor.

But how did she get his sonic screwdriver in "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead"? Have we seen the last of River after all? Speaking last month at Orlando's Megacon, Alex Kingston discussed the possibility of River making another appearance, alongside Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi:
“All I can say is… spoilers! But what I will say is the sonic screwdriver that I had in Silence in the Library, which had been given to me by the Doctor, is not the sonic screwdriver that has been seen . . . yet.

I haven’t been told I’m done [on the show].
Speculation on this front has been ongoing since Capaldi was first tapped to play the new Doctor. Some have even wondered whether the "my Doctor" River refers to in "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead" was not, in fact, the Eleventh, but the Twelfth. When asked how River would respond to the Doctor's new face, Kingston said,
“Well, River’s dealt with a lot of Doctor’s faces in the past so I don’t think that it would be a surprise to her.”
Would you like to see River make another appearance, maybe not as a recurring character as she was in series 5 and 6, but as a cameo? Or do you think River's run on the series is done, and should be put to bed?
