First up, our rate the episode poll. The episode proved to be a fair bit more divisive than Under the Lake (which you can see the results for here), but the episode still scooped a majority of 5/5 votes, continuing this season's impressive form:
- Excellent (5/5) - 41.89%
- Very good (4/5) - 32.43%
- OK (3/5) - 18.92%
- Poor (2/5) - 2.7%
- Dreadful (1/5) - 4.05%
Before the Flood had an average score of 4.05/5. That's a solid score that puts it in about the middle of Capaldi's episodes so far - but with the high reader scores for Series 9 so far, the episode slots in at bottom of the Series 9 leaderboard for the time being:
All average scores are out of 5.
- The Witch's Familiar - 4.55
- The Magician's Apprentice - 4.45
- Under the Lake - 4.37
- Before the Flood - 4.05
Before the Flood's Question of the Week asked: 'Who really composed Beethoven's 5th?'. As the Doctor pointed out at the start of the episode, was Beethoven responsible for writing the notes and phrases of 'Beethoven's Fifth', or was it someone else using a copy of Beethoven's Fifth? A surprising number of TGT readers were strong believers in the bootstrap paradox, but it was still a majority for Team Beethoven:
- Beethoven composed it - 61.11%
- It was someone else - 38.89%
We'll have a rate the episode poll for The Girl Who Died for you straight after the episode tonight at 9.10pm - and this week's Question of the Week will be up tomorrow.
