Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio - Overnight UK Viewing Figures

The overnight UK viewing figures for last night's Doctor Who Christmas special, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, have been released.

The special had 5.68 million viewers on average and a share of 27.1% of the overall viewing audience. That's very similar to last year's figure of 5.77 million, so it looks like the show's long hiatus didn't see an exodus of viewers.

Doctor Who was eighth for the day, the same as last year, in a tightly packed leaderboard:
  1. The Queen - 7.7 million
  2. Strictly Come Dancing - 7.17 million
  3. Christmas Bake Off - 6.32 million
  4. Mrs Brown's Boys - 6.13 million
  5. Coronation Street - 6.12 million
  6. Call the Midwife - 6.06 million
  7. EastEnders - 5.90 million
  8. Doctor Who - 5.68 million
  9. Emmerdale - 4.73 million
  10. Frozen - 4.65 million
The consolidated viewing figures will be released next week.
