Doctor Who: SHADA to hit Australian cinemas

If you're in Australia this November and you love classic Doctor Who, you're in luck. The lost Douglas Adams episode of Doctor Who, SHADA will be released in cinemas on November 24th.

The recent news of this lost episode being completed and released with animation of missing scenes and voiced by the original cast has had the Whovian community all a tizzy. Whether you are a fan of the jelly baby toting fourth Doctor, Romana or just the writing stylings of science fiction author Douglas Adams, this is going to be an episode to watch.

The story line was originally abandoned in 1979 and was meant to have been the finale for the 17th series. However, it has since been revived by popular request and is being produced by the same team who gave us the beautifully animated lost Doctor Who adventure, The Power of the Daleks. The newly animated parts of the film have recently recorded audio dialogue by the original actors including Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor and Lalla Ward as the sassy companion Romana.

Actor Tom Baker had this to say about SHADA:
“Shada was one of my favourite Doctor Who stories.
I have many fond memories of shooting the location scenes in Cambridge, and it was disappointing not to finish the story in studio.
I’m so glad that BBC Worldwide have found a way to bring fans a complete visual version.”

The episode premieres in Australian cinemas on the 24th of November but will be released as a digital download on iTunes the same day. The DVD/Blu-Ray will be available on the 4th of December. Preorders are currently available through Amazon as well as the BBC website.
